HPA success starts up front Battle for division II title intensifies

posted Sep 21, 2008 5:54 PM by Elliot Kastner

The Hawaii Prep football team's 27-20 victory over Kamehameha-Hawaii on Friday demonstrated two things.

One, that the Division II race in the Big Island Interscholastic Federation looks the most intriguing since statewide classification was instituted in 2003. Four of the five teams in the division seem to be title contenders.

Three-time defending champion Kamehameha (0-1) is staring up at Konawaena (2-0 Division II), HPA (1-1) and Kohala (1-1). The battle for the first-half title looks to be a dogfight. If the first-half champion and second-half champion are different at the end of the regular season, those teams will play for the overall title.  read more
